Message from Pastor Hal 12-20-17

I hope all this week has been festive and smooth. The Christmas weekend approaches. Very special time for most.

VCC received a big thank you letter from Peine Ridge school. Thanking us for the lunch account $ and the recent donations of items for families. They are VERY grateful. I told them when I took items there that the people of VCC care about people.

Sunday should be a very special time. We begin with an 8:30 breakfast and the opportunity to bring an item (or apparel) that signified Christmas to you…so you can share it 1 by 1 with those in attendance. Then at 9:30 we hold a very casual worship. We’ll sing along with Rich Helton as he strums some favorite carols. We’ll witness some of the kids of VCC as they share for a few moments, Santa will be present for them as well. We will also look closely at what some of our favorite characters of Christmas teach us about life and others. It will be very much worth the effort to attend.

As the new year starts, Rich & Patty Loeschner are offering a new experience. They will host a small group fellowship / study at their home beginning Wednesday, January 10th. They will use some Rick Warren materials and it’ll be a very comfortable & friendly environment. If you’d like to learn more in a casual & low-key environment, this is an opportunity for you. More details will come soon.

Sunday, December 31st will be very meaningful as well. We’ll look at new ways to approach the new year. If you want 2018 to be even better than 2017, this will help.

We still need more stockers for the outdoor food pantry. All you need to do is buy a bag full of items and bring it over and place it in the box early in a week assigned. The box is always open and this time of year we need items with no threat of freezing.

Working on a new Sunday Servers list to be released soon. Both openers and communion / offering servers. Also would like to expand our weekly communion time to include a person to share “Communion & Me Moment”. What does communion mean to you…how does it effect you…in what ways do you enjoy it. I ask because those who are willing are the best sharers.

Finish strong folks…a great weekend awaits. Blessings…
